Gose crazy for Leipzig
After a quick stop in Dortmund, it was time to head towards Berlin with a quick stop off in Leipzig to check out their famous Gose brewery. I arrived in the late afternoon and after checking into my hostel decided to locate some food. I walked around and upon passing a pizza joint with a bunch of people eating pizza at it, I decided that pizza was a great idea. So I stopped and grabbed some pizza!
After wolfing down the pizza, I continued a walk around Leipzig checking out the interesting architecture and more or less following the light rail line which ran underground in the city centre. Eventually I made my way to the Gose brewery which was located in the old train station in town. Called Bayerischer Bahnhof they specialize in the Gose style which is typically a sour, salty low ABV beer that is a great drink for a hot day.
The train station was originally built in 1842 and operated as a functioning train station until 1944 when it was damaged during air strikes during the war. The Brewery opened in 2000 and has been brewing delicious Gose beer ever since. The building was super cool and had tons of train memorabilia dotted throughout.
I honestly didn’t do much other than drink beer and wander around the streets. I also didn’t take many pictures so there isn’t that much to say. I did a run in the morning before jumping on a bus to Berlin in the afternoon. I wish I could say more about my Leipzig adventure, but it was mostly to go to this brewery and I didn’t find too many other things interesting to check out other than architecture.
I did find another brewery in the town centre that was honestly not very good and pretty expensive but killed the time successfully when waiting for the bus.
As I made my way to the bus which would take me to Berlin, I passed FLORIDA JOHN who was on his way to do the exact same thing I had just done. I would be seeing him again in Berlin soon.
BUS
That’s all to say about Leipzig, get ready for a pretty long post about Berlin, because there was a lot to do there!
